Sister Leonella

ANSA) - Vatican City, September 18 - Catholic authorities said on Monday it is unclear whether the killing of an Italian nun in Somalia this weekend was motivated by Muslim anger over the pope's comments on Islam .Sister Leonella Sgorbati, 70, was shot five times in the back ( the cowards couldn't even look her in the eYes) by gunmen on Saturday as she crossed a road near the Mogadishu children's hospital where she worked. Her bodyguard was also killed. There was immediate speculation in the international media that the murder was a revenge attack sparked by Benedict XVI's remarks about Islam last week .

Her last words were "I forgive (them)," Misna said, quoting a nun who worked with the victim and who was with her when she died .
