LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Zoo's newest, tall addition made his debut Friday.
The yet-to-be-named male Masai giraffe was born at the zoo Aug. 17, coming in at a whopping 6 feet 4 inches tall and 158 pounds -- and growing.
Masai giraffes originate from Africa and are the tallest land animals, growing up to 18 feet tall. He currently is consuming five 7 1/2 quart bottles a day and has already grown 4 inches in the zoo's nursery
The new giraffe will be on display at the zoo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.
The public is invited to help name the newborn giraffe by calling the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association at 323-644-4781.
